At around 8 Am you will be picked up from your hotel in Chennai by an experienced professional driver in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Then start the drive to Kanchipuram which is around 75 Kms from Chennai.
In Kanchipuram, you will visit the Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple, made up of a typical Pallava style of a pyramidal tower, pillared halls and a vestibule. More than 50 small shrines are enshrined in this temple complex. It is believed, by visiting this temple, devotees get rid of the ill effects of shadow planet Ketu.
Next you will go to the Varadaraja Perumal Temple, a 23 acre temple complex, with depictions of 19 Vimanas (flying palaces or chariots) and around 400 pillared halls, dedicated to Varadarajaperumal or Vardaraja Swamy. One of the 108 Divya Desam and all the 12 Alwars have visited and have sung hymns in praise of the Lord.
Ekambareswarar Temple is one of the five elements of nature representing earth. The single mango tree in the outer court is revered as most sacred and it is believed, if worshipped by childless couple, they will be blessed with a child. Hence Lord Siva is called Ekambareswarar. It has an almost 60 m tall tower that is visible even from the highway while entering the city.
From here you visit the Kamakshi Temple. It is a 12th century temple in the heart of the town. “Ka” means Goddess Saraswati (God of Education), “Ma” means Goddess Lakshmi (God of Wealth), “Akshi” means Eye. The name in full refers Kamakshi with Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Lakshmi as her both eyes. You will also visit a local market to understand the local cultural activities.
Finally you will visit the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial, a memorial to Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi at the site where he was assassinated at Sriperumbudur. After this, you will be driven back to Chennai and dropped off at your hotel.
